SPICY CHILLI CONSERVE RECIPE – PALEO AND KETO APPROVED

Do you love spicy food and chillies but hate the mess and burn from chopping them? I’ve got a great Paleo and Keto approved chilli conserve recipe that will last up to six months in the fridge.

It’s Getting Hot In Here

I don’t know what it is about spicy food, but I can’t get enough of it. My son is the same, while my daughter detests anything slightly spicy; and I’m talking even pepper. I also love to cook with spice, but hate chopping fresh chillies up. Many years ago, a Sri Lankan friend of mine taught me lots about cooking traditional Indian food, and one of the things she taught me to make was this Spicy Chilli Conserve.

It’s a fabulous way to store fresh chillies and have them on hand whenever you need them. This recipe will make enough chilli conserve to last you for up to six months, depending on how hot you like your food.

HOW HOT IS TOO HOT WHEN USING CHILLI?

I recently made it again, but this time I got some super hot ghost chillies to add to the mix and I can tell you now, that if you do that, BE WARNED!!! The mix is so damn hot, that one teaspoon will turn your Chilli Con Carne into the hottest inferno you’ve ever had. It’s also a lot of fun to see how the family copes with it when they eat it. Let’s just say that heads will sweat, eyes will water and mouths and other regions will burn, but you won’t be disappointed. And, it’s Paleo and Keto approved.

Store in the refrigerator and use for cooking, spreading, or if you’re game, have a small spoonful to keep the winter blues away.

IS IT “CHILI”, “CHILLI”, OR “CHILE”?

On the topic of chillies, have you ever wondered how the word is actually spelled? Even as a writer, I still check the spelling from time to time, as it always gets me. I guess it depends on where in the world you are. While England and Europe, including Australia all spell it Chilli, the Spaniards and Mexicans spells it Chile. Then there’s Americans who have modernised it into Chili, so take your pick as there’s no right and wrong. The Chilli Pepper Madness site will tell you more.

Chillies are related to capsicum and were originally discovered in 1492 by no other than Christopher Columbus when he sailed into the Dominican Republic and Haiti areas. For more of a history on chillies, visit A Brief History of Chillies.
